Under the project themes of cyberpunk and Sham Shui Po, Nick explored the common elements between them, such as the concepts of future, technology, machine, neon lights and time travel.

As a headpiece designer, Nick visited Sham Shui Po to look for relevant materials which became the link between the 3 headpieces created for this project. He imagined living in a cyberpunk city, exploring the locality and immersing in the culture and lifestyle when he designed headpieces for the city. His designs are not just for the cyberpunk world, they also showcase the personalities and uniqueness of Sham Shui Po. To Nick, everyone is special. No matter which era or planet one lives in, one has unique characters. Headpieces are the most distinctive accessories for those living in this cyberpunk city.

這次項目以數碼龐克和深水埗作為主題,兩者之間的共通點實在太多,包括未來、科技、機械、霓虹燈和密集空間等。

作為一位頭飾設計師,Nick在深水埗尋找富有以上特色的物料,來製作三款切合主題的頭飾。他幻想自己生活在數碼龐克的世界,用心感受身邊的環境和人物,學習和融入當地文化和生活習慣,去構思屬於這個地方的頭飾。這幾款頭飾不但需要適合數碼龐克世界的生活環境,更要能表現自我、與眾不同的能力。Nick認為每個人在任何時空都是萬中無一的,無論他們身處任何年代或星球,也有着自己獨特的個性,而頭飾就是每個由Nick創造的角色的必備配件。

After graduating from the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) with a Higher Diploma in Printing and Computer Imaging, Nick Leung has worked in the printing and advertising industry for nearly a decade. He launched his hat brand NICI HARMONIC in 2011 with immediate enthusiastic responses. The label’s hats, designed for subtropical regions, received awards from DFA Design for Asia Awards, RADO Star Prize Hong Kong and ELLE Style Tribe King.

NICI HARMONIC consists of a casual collection and a haute couture collection. Nick has collaborated with local and international celebrities, fashion designers and stylists. Since 2014, NICI HARMONIC has started presenting new collections in Paris Fashion Week. In 2017, the brand started being sold by CA4LA, Japan’s leading retailer specialising in hats and it is now sold in luxury department stores and select shops globally.
